Deathloop Launches: Pre-load Now and Check PC Requirements
The wait is almost over! I've been counting down the days, and finally, Deathloop is hitting PC and PS5 on September 14th. Arkane Lyon, the brilliant minds who brought us the Dishonored series, are back with what looks like their most ambitious project yet. This time-looping first-person shooter has been on my radar for months, and honestly, the hype is real.

What's the Deal with Deathloop?
So here's the premise that got me hooked: you're trapped in a time loop on this enigmatic island called Blackreef. The twist? You're one of two rival assassins caught in this temporal nightmare. I love how Arkane has taken their signature stealth-action gameplay and twisted it with this Groundhog Day-style mechanic. Every loop is a chance to learn, adapt, and hopefully break free – or at least that's what I'm hoping for!
Pre-load is Live – Don't Wait!
If you're like me and you've already secured your copy, here's the good news: pre-loading went live on September 12th. Trust me, you'll want to get this downloaded ASAP. The last thing you want is to be sitting there at launch, watching a progress bar crawl while everyone else is already diving into Blackreef.
The unlock times are a bit staggered depending on where you are:
PC Launch Times (Steam and Bethesda)
| Region | Unlock Time |
|---|---|
| 🌎 North & South America | September 13, 9:01 PM PT |
| 🌏 Australia, New Zealand, Asia | September 13, 12:01 AM JST |
| 🌍 Europe & Rest of World | September 13, 1:01 AM CEST |
PS5 Launch Times
-
North America: September 14, 12:00 AM ET
-
Rest of the World: September 14, 12:00 AM (your local timezone)
Notice how PC players get it slightly earlier? Yeah, I'm definitely not jealous or anything... 😅
Can Your PC Handle It?
Now, let's talk specs. I spent way too much time staring at these requirements, trying to figure out if my rig could handle it. Arkane has been pretty transparent about what you'll need for different experience levels.
Minimum Requirements (1080P / 30 FPS / Low Settings)
Look, if you're running a slightly older system, you can still get in the game:
-
OS: 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1909 or higher)
-
Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 @ 2.80GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 1600
-
Memory: 12 GB RAM
-
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1060 (6GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8GB)
-
DirectX: Version 12
-
Storage: 30 GB HDD space
Honestly, 12 GB of RAM as a minimum is pretty hefty, but that's next-gen gaming for you.
Recommended Setup (1080P / 60 FPS / High Settings)
This is where things get interesting. If you want that smooth 60 FPS experience:
-
OS: 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1909 or higher)
-
Processor: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 3.60GHz or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
-
Memory: 16 GB RAM
-
Graphics: Nvidia RTX 2060 (6GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5700 (8GB)
-
DirectX: Version 12
-
Storage: 30 GB SSD space
Notice they're recommending an SSD here. Makes sense – you'll be loading and reloading those time loops constantly.
Ultra 4K Glory (4K / 60 FPS / Ultra Settings)
For those lucky enough to have top-tier hardware:
-
OS: 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1909 or higher)
-
Processor: Intel Core i9-10900K @ 3.70GHz or AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT
-
Memory: 16 GB RAM
-
Graphics: Nvidia RTX 3080 (10GB) or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT (16GB)
-
DirectX: Version 12
-
Storage: 30 GB SSD space
An RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT for 4K? Yeah, that tracks. Good luck finding one at MSRP though... 😬
Breaking Down the Numbers
What strikes me about these requirements is the relatively modest storage footprint. At just 30 GB, Deathloop is refreshingly compact compared to some other AAA titles that demand 100+ GB. I appreciate not having to delete half my game library just to make room.
The jump from minimum to recommended specs is pretty significant, though. You're looking at:
✨ CPU: From a mid-range i5/Ryzen 5 to a solid i7/Ryzen 7
✨ RAM: 12 GB to 16 GB
✨ GPU: GTX 1060/RX 580 to RTX 2060/RX 5700
✨ Storage: HDD to SSD
That GPU upgrade alone will make a massive difference in visual fidelity and performance.
Multiple Editions, Multiple Choices
If you haven't picked up your copy yet, Deathloop comes in several editions with varying bonuses and extras. Each tier offers different cosmetics, weapons, and additional content. I won't dive deep here, but it's worth checking out what each edition includes before you commit.
My Take on the Hype
I've been following Arkane's work since the original Dishonored, and they've never disappointed me with their level design and player freedom. The time loop mechanics in Deathloop feel like a natural evolution of their design philosophy – giving players multiple approaches to solve problems, now with the added dimension of temporal manipulation.
The fact that this is launching on both PC and PS5 simultaneously is pretty exciting too. Cross-generation launches have been hit-or-miss lately, but everything I've seen suggests Arkane has optimized both versions properly.
Final Countdown ⏰
So here we are, just hours away from launch. My game is pre-loaded, my weekend is cleared, and I'm ready to get stuck in that time loop. Whether you're a Dishonored veteran like me or completely new to Arkane's style of gameplay, Deathloop looks like it's going to be something special.
Make sure your system meets at least the minimum requirements, get that pre-load going if you haven't already, and I'll see you on Blackreef. Time to break this loop! 🎮
Just remember – if you die, you'll just start over. That's both the beauty and the curse of being trapped in a time loop. Let's hope we can figure out how to escape before we go completely insane!
